The primary result of the project SHELLFISH is to increase sustainably the competitiveness Wave Diving & Fishing SRL, in the blue economy sector in Romania, through value creation and sustainable growth of the business, by developing, implementing and investing in an innovative small scale industrial processing facility as well as local distribution of seafood.
In addition, the following results are to be achived:
- Ambitious yet realistic growth in turnover, commensurate with the development of the new business opportunity in the processing and distribution of shellfish products and by products.
- Net operational profit increased significantly, commensurate with the development of the new business opportunity in the processing and distribution of shellfish products and by products.
- Job creation by 7-8 new positions, most if not all from the local community in Costinesti and nearby communities.
- Development, implementation and investment in one innovative environmentally friendly technology (blue economy sector level in Romania) related to the processing line for shellfish.
- Development of green products, technology and processes, valorising almost entirely the wet and hard by-products of two industrially processed species – rapana and mussels – two new green products (feeder supplement and calcite).
- Estimated annual decrease by 123.6t/year of CO2 emissions/equivalent due to reduction in fuel for transportation and landfill waste.
- 279t of production waste not being landfilled or disposed as sea but valorised as part of the production process, into valuable commodities.
